Ice Pack for Injuries, Hot & Cold Therapy:I purchased these ice packs (1 blue, 1 white) for an upcoming sternum surgery. When I was a kid, I had one just like them. These ice packs are SO cute, and work extremely well! I had my surgery a week ago and I’m very happy I had them to help with the pain. Here’s what I loved:• They came in a pack of 2, so I could switch between them while I was constantly using ice therapy.• The size is absolutely perfect! I’m 5’0″, and 160lbs, so I don’t need a really large pack for proper coverage. You need less than you realize when you think about it. Consider the area which needs ice.• I can fit SO much ice into the packs. I think (+/-) 3 1/2 cups of fridge-made ice ‘cubes’ fit into 1 pack. (Our fridge makes large ‘cubes’). I was seriously impressed with how much fit into the pack, and it was still comfortable to place right onto the area they did surgery on.• The ice lasts a really long time. I can fill up a pack and be good for a good 2 hours. Even when the ice turns mostly into really cold water, I can still use that as cold therapy. The water does NOT seep through the material. (The *only* time I had a small issue with this, was when we had our wood stove burning. It’s close to me and heats our house up to 80°. What I experienced was more like condensation, rather than seepage. Even with this, I just alternated between the two and it was absolutely fine.)• I purchased for use after a surgery, but these worked so well, (and were so easy to use) they will now be a part of my permanent first aid/after care things.• The ice packs are really well made. The lids are screw-top, and screw on very easily. I have strength issues due to a muscle disease and I had no problems opening and closing the lids. Here’s what I didn’t like:• Initially upon opening and removing from the plastic there was an unpleasant odor. The odor seemed to disappear after a day or two. I had mine opened for 4 days before my surgery, and 5 days before I first used them. By the time I used them, I’d forgotten about the odor. I’m sure, like with most things, the smell is just from production. If you are sensitive to smells, I would recommend having someone else open them for you and air them out for a few days. They came well packaged and each ice pack was in it’s own individual plastic bag, so you wouldn’t have to worry about an odor after initially opening the box. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the worst odor in the world), I’d give this one 4.I am very happy with my purchase of these Ice Packs (1 blue, 1 white). I’m in love with their retro style, and they seriously impressed me with how long they kept things cold.
